Patented Secondary Particle Design

Silicon undergoes significant volume changes during charging and discharging cycles, leading to mechanical stress, electrode degradation, and loss of electrical contact. The engineered 3D secondary structure mitigates these issues by providing a porous, conductive architecture that accommodates the volume changes while maintaining structural integrity and electrical conductivity.

Surface Functionalization

Our materials leverage a “surface functionalization” platform that not only enables 3D architecting and surface protection, but also ensures compatibility with polymer and solid electrolyte.

Silicon Crystal and Swell Control

We engineer our materials to accommodate silicon swelling and optimize the material composition to widen the operational voltage window of silicon. This results in batteries with improved cycle performance and superior charge rate capability.

Stable

Silicon anodes degrade quickly due to the electrode volume changes during lithiation, imposing significant strain on the material with each cycle. Achieving cycle stability requires addressing both the internal and external effects of lithiation on silicon metal. ADVANO’s proprietary REALSi™ material enables steady rate performance, high areal mass loading, and desired cycle stability.
